Our family has been working with Meredith for about five months now. We depend on her for guidance and understanding on where we are with our horses. She takes the time to get to know you and your horse. Meredith trouble shoots issues with you and will explain and walk you through the issue at hand. I have experienced the selling and training side of her business. She believes in a good fit for the horse she is selling and discloses everything to the buyer, which I have a lot of respect for and believe its hard find in the business of selling a horse. As of right now my husband and I are taking lessons with Meredith she is not only there for her clients in that blocked time. I have contacted her on many occasions for her advice she always gets back to me and takes the time to talk with me. I believe we all want to do right by our horses and Meredith is the type of trainer with a passion that she extends to her clients. I have a horse that can be a handful and a horse that is the complete opposite she has proven the ability to handle both of them. Meredith is a good teacher she is understanding and doesn’t mind repeating herself to your understanding or showing you. I am a very visual learner and later after I am done riding as I am giving my lesson some thought then the light bulb goes off. We plan to stay with Meredith for some time and will be sending our colt to her in the spring. Meredith is trust worthy, compassionate and giving of her craft.

I met Meredith through Facebook…. just put some feelers out and her name came up. To say I was fortunate to meet her would be an understatement.
From day 1, Meredith has displayed immense knowledge…..and unbelievable patience. I came to Meredith doubting my horse, as well as my own abilities. She proved to me that my horse was smart, trustworthy, and really wanted to do good. She made me believe in my abilities, and she proved to me that I could control my “testy” horse.
I have now known and worked closely with Meredith for over 2 years now. I have seen Meredith work with other people and other horses. She is a professional. She can take even the most ill-mannered horse and turn him/her around. Meredith is an amazing equestrian and trainer. I highly recommend Meredith for your and/or your horse.

I still think of you every time I get on Clifford! I’m so thankful for all you have done for us. I rode Clifford this last weekend and even after nearly a month off, due to this cold weather and snow, we had a good ride and an even better ride yesterday. You are a great trainer. This horse who was frankly dangerous is now a fantastic horse and an absolute joy to ride, even if he has had some time off. I can’t possibly thank you enough!

To Anyone Considering Moonraker Quarter Horses: I bought my mare, Zan Parr Luna, from Meredith in 2006. I have been so happy with Luna and with having Meredith train her. Meredith has trained Luna into the most wonderful horse for me! Luna is doing fantastic on trail rides and arena work and as a result we were able to take her on an out of state trip for a 4 day adventure to Ft. Robinson, NE! Without the gentle training methods and patience of Meredith I would not have been able to do all of this! She is as kind to the rider as she is to the horse!
Every year I bring Luna back to Meredith for her and my spring tune up after the long winter season! I had another horse that Meredith was able to find a home for.
I highly recommend Meredith at Moonraker Quarter Horses for training or selling horses!

Thank you Meredith Shertzer, Moonraker Quarter Horses, for helping Murphy find a wonderful new home and a young lady who will love him. He is going to be very happy at Ken Caryl and return to his jumping and eventing lifestyle. You were great to work with and made the process so smooth. We will miss Murphy… we had 6 great years with him and looking back he took Meagan on some great rides and lots of ribbons! We will miss his charming personality.

I wanted to take the time to tell you how pleased we are with the progress Troy and Ollie made while at your facility for training. Since we have brought them home we have seen tremendous differences in both of them.
Troy has lost that look of fear and panic in his eyes and now just has a soft gentle look about him. I took him to the farrier last week and he did terrific. He allowed the farrier to put shoes on his front without any issue and to work with his back hooves like a gentleman. He is riding very well and I have learned a few things to keep him from wanting to run out on me. (Rider has lots to learn, more so than horse!!) Ollie, well he is still lazy lol but is riding very well also. He didn’t have nearly the needs Troy did with trust but you can still tell a big difference in his ability to do what Vess wants him to.
Thank you for the hard work on both of them. I wish I were closer so I could continue working with you on a more consistent basis. I will most definitely recommend you to anyone I know who is looking for a good solid trainer for their horses.

To Whom This May Concern,
I bought a mare last year and she was very rough around the edges. I figured I would give it a shot, get to know her, attempt to ride her. That did not work out so well. In December of 2011, a saddle slipped and this mare went into a full fledged buck and panicked. After all of that, she didn’t want to be touched. If you so much as looked at her wrong, she was high tailing it to the other side of the pasture. She is a special needs horse as she has very thin soles up front and has to have her feet done every six weeks. She was not too pleased with Tim, my farrier and decided to kick out at him twice. That was the last straw. I finally decided to get in touch with someone about her and found Meredith Shertzer on Facebook. She was very willing to come out and see what all her issues where. Flash was very untrusting. She was also very fearful. She hated being cinched up and could not stand at the trailer to save her life. She hated to have her back feet picked up and would kick out at you. Overall, this mare was a complete and total mess. After Meredith came out and rode her, told me what her issues were, I decided it would be in both mine and her best interests to spend at the minimum thirty days with her. After the first thirty days, you could see a major change in attitude and I also got the courage to ride her. I was extremely nervous as I had torn the ligament in my ankle in 2011 and had major knee surgery. I then decided to have her stay for another thirty days and she just got better and better. Don’t get me wrong, this mare had her days and she still does, but I wouldn’t change anything about her as she, with Meredith’s help, has made me one heck of a rider. Sixty days came and went and I decided that another thirty should suffice. Everyone was amazed at her transformation. She was a complete different horse to be around. She is a nice horse to ride. I have no issues riding her now, even though she has had several little fits and I have come off, I have become a much better rider. People are absolutely amazed when I tell them about how she was when I first purchased her and compare it to her now. I never thought I would be able to ride her. There were several times I contemplated selling her because she was too much horse, but after the ninety days of training and the constant help from Meredith, I am glad to say that we have come so far. I rode her in my first show with her and she did pretty well considering all the commotion. Her only real issues where once when a gentleman jumped off the bleachers and we were riding next to the rail and then when my hat decided it wanted to come off. She has been on several trail rides as well. If it weren’t for Meredith, I have no idea where I would be with this mare. After all of that, I decided I wanted to purchase another horse and Meredith had one she was trying to sell for another client that I was absolutely in love with. With a little help, I finally bought Bailey May and have been down right happy with all of my purchases and help. I have also attended several of Meredith’s clinics and those have been a major help. Even though Flash is still green, I have been able to do things with her that I never thought I would have. And with my purchase of Bailey, my confidence is sky high.
Thanks Meredith for all that you do and all that you have done. I know that if I ever have any issues with either mare, I know you will help me sort through it. I highly recommend Meredith to anyone having issues with their horses. She will get it sorted out quickly and honestly. She is a wonderful woman and an even better friend. Again, thanks for all that you have done for me, if it wasn’t for you, I probably would have never ridden another horse in my life. You pushed me when all I wanted to do was sit on the ground and cry. You made me do all the hard things I hated. You made me realize that I have to “cowgirl up” and not let these mares push me around. You have do so much for me and there is no way I can ever repay you.

I had the pleasure of taking the Balanced Rider/True Connection Clinic at Moonraker Quarter Horses last Saturday. what a great opportunity to educate yourself and your horse while enjoying meeting other riders. Meredith Shertzer is the Instructor and she is incredible. She has a natural ability to increase your confidence while instructing. Meredith worked with each of us on a one on one basis. Val, her assistant, was in the arena also working with us. Everyone received personal attention. The clinic consisted of round penning, flexing your horse on the ground and while riding, stopping, backing thru obstacles, collection, trotting and loping. lt was a great experience and I believe every one of us in the class had an incredible experience. I personally struggle with round penning. when it was my turn to go into the round pen, I listened and did everything Meredith told me, I took charge and my horse did very well, so did I. Thank you Meredith! I walked away from this clinic feeling empowered in many areas. Looking forward to more clinics and I would highly recommend this clinic to any rider, no matter what level of experience you have.
To Whom It May Concern,
My referral to Moonraker/Meredith Shertzer training was through word of mouth. I contacted her for my then two year old Appaloosa Gelding. At the time she told me she was booked up and she would contact me when she had space available. This was my first good impression. After many, many years of taking my horses to other trainers, often times they will take my horses, but are overbooked so that the thirty or sixty day training turns out to be much less. I knew I wanted my horse with her, so I kept calling every couple of weeks until she had an opening. Finally I was able to take “Dodge”. I signed on for thirty days, and ended up keeping him there for sixty. Because he is an App he has sensitive eyes. Meredith kept his fly mask on him, while he wasn’t working and also fed him his growth formula grain I brought for him.
Now here is the real reason I wanted to write this referral, I brought Dodge home, never having ridden him while he was at Meredith’s (not because she didn’t ask, I just live and work quite a ways from Nunn). I saddled him up, while he stood like a rock (mind you he is now three), took him out to the round pen, and was totally amazed, he stood while mounting, rode out in all three gaits, picked up his leads, backed and walked a straight line. In the arena I threw a rope off him, he didn’t flinch when I roped his ears, and he ignored all the other horses running around, just waiting for my next cue. Next, I took him out for a trail ride, on our farm, by himself and he spooked at nothing, including a herd of deer, and even the mail box. Many of my other horses that have had much more professional training, and are much older, and do not have the same level of professionalism that this colt does. I told Meredith, sometimes you actually do get what you pay for, and in this case I got more. I was so happy with Dodge that I had her take my yearling for some ground work, and hope (when Meredith has room) to be able to take “Cuda” there as well. I would be happy to give you more information or would welcome you to come out and see/ride my colt.

Meredith is a great trainer and coach! I heard about Meredith through friends that have had their horses trained by her and they were able to sell them for their actual value after completing training with her. There’s a lot to be said about that in these hard economical times. I also know she is one of the most honest people I know! If she feels she can’t get what you want out of your horse she will tell you. I had 30 days put on my mare to get her to move forward and I’m able to lope through the barrel pattern on her already. If I ever run into problems with my mare I can call her and she is always willing to come help. I would recommend Meredith to anyone. She is reasonably priced takes care of all her animals, is honest, hardworking, and very talented
Meredith starts many of our colts. She is exceptional with young horses. We take many of our horses to her that go on to other trainers and clients who comment on how well they are started. Meredith is a great person and friend and I highly recommend her as a trainer.
You have worked miracles with my two horses that I never thought I would be able to ride. They are doing so good! Shoshone is turning out to be the best horse we have. She loves to go out on rides just me and her, and when we take them all out it’s like having trail horses. Apache is also doing really great and he and Lance do really well together. Summer seems to be doing really well now that the others are behaving. I guess lunging her too has also done wonders.
I recommend everyone I know to you and am very grateful for everything you have done with my horses and for all the help for Lance and myself.

Thank you for doing such a nice job starting my young horses!
Leda and Aengus learned so much with you and I really appreciate the thorough introduction they received in being polite, willing and balanced riding horses. Riding them for the first time was great and they are being very good here at home. I’m impressed with how quiet and patient you are with the horses, and it really shows in their eagerness to please you and in their rapid progress.
Each of these young horses feels like they have been riding for much longer than they have and I’m very happy with how light in the mouth they are. You did an excellent job of teaching them how to move consistently and rhythmically off the leg and slightest rein, it’s so fun to ride them already!
I will continue to send people and horses your way and look forward to working with you again!

To whom it may concern , I recently had the pleasure of working with Meredith. I sent her a horse of mine that was the impossible to deal with. In just a little over 2 weeks of training our buckskin mare is like a brand new horse! It’s amazing! I would highly recommend her services for anyone in need of horse training! Please feel free to call me if you need to verify this recommendation at 970-405-9205. Have a great day!

Meredith- Wanted to give you an update on that little black mustang you broke for me a few years ago. She took a FIRST place in english pleasure class last weekend with a friend of mine riding her. And then a FIFTH place in western pleasure with my 10 year old daughter riding her. This was the first time she was ever in a show, thank you for starting that Mustang out right! She is doing great thanks to you!

I would bring another horse to you in a heartbeat. You did great work with ‘Chance’. Should I ever get another young horse that needs some polishing, you’re my gal!!

I have had horses nearly my whole life and unfortunately never been able to have them on my own property. Consequently, I have boarded at many different facilities. Meredith Shertzer’s place is by far one of the best.
Meredith is very knowledgeable of horses and their needs and equally attentive to each horse. She kept my mare at a perfect weight even with my changing riding schedule (if you have boarded for any length of time you know how difficult it can be to find someone who will do that!). She also provided turn-out and blanketing services at no extra charge (also very rare!).
All of her horses are well behaved and well mannered. My young mare didn’t pick up any bad habits, in fact she probably lost a few. I think being in an environment where horses are expected to work and behave themselves really helped me out with her training by keeping her in a learning state of mind, even when I wasn’t able to ride consistently.
Plus, you can ride as far as the eye can see, literally.
Believe me, it’s worth the drive. I would recommend Meredith’s place to anyone.

I met Meredith the summer of 2008 after an online search for horse training. I was impressed by both her website and her almost immediate response to my email. At the time I was looking for someone to give me lessons, and train my 2 year old quarter horse. I live in Wyoming so I decided to drive to Nunn to see the facility and meet Meredith before bringing down my horse. After meeting her and seeing her work with horses I knew she was the one I wanted to train my horse. The training went wonderfully and she had me riding him within 45 days and I am a beginner myself.
I found Meredith’s rates to be reasonable and her knowledge of horsemanship to be vast. At all times she was dependable, hard-working, conscientious, and honest. Meredith is an exceptionable trainer and I will definitely be using her in the future. Please contact me for any further information.

I have known Meredith Shertzer, aka, Moonraker Quarter Horses, for the last several years. Me being a late bloomer into the horseback training/riding area, Meredith had her work cut out for her. Not only did I think riding consisted on getting on the back or a horse and it just goes and stops, but I was blessed with trying to raise/train a foal from more or less birth on. I cannot say enough about Meredith’s patience with me and, most importantly, with the horses. Safety was and is her first priority, for the rider and the horse. Her uncanny ability to understand the horse and train it is amazing. However, her ability to comprehend how best to teach the human student is a work of art, especially, when just keeping my right and left correct were a major problem.
There are many more things I could say to encourage you to have Meredith train you and your horse but what I am trying to convey most convincingly is that Meredith really wants you to be safe learn about and enjoy your horse. An added bonus is her unending availability to answer questions, both during lessons, and at any time via phone or email. You will find a comfort level with Meredith for both you and your horse. She has also worked with my granddaughter and daughter who are novice riders.

Meredith has started and trained several horses for me over the years. The horses she has trained have all made lots of progress and come back soft, willing and responsive.
She is an extremely competent rider and horse person and is willing to train and work with even the most challenging horses. She is very talented at starting colts from groundwork, through starting under saddle, and beyond.
Hard-working, and a dedicated business owner, she will do what it takes to get her clients the results they are after.
I would highly recommend her to have your horses trained. I would be happy to answer any questions you may have.

It is my pleasure to write this letter of reference for Meredith Shertzer of Moonraker Quarter Horses.
Meredith has trained several horses for me over the past few years and I have referred many folks to her. We have all been extremely satisfied with Meredith’s work. As a trainer she provides an excellent service. She consistently rides the horses in training 5 days per week. She feeds quality hay and provides a safe, clean environment for the horses to minimize injury.
Meredith’s training skills are exceptional as she strives to provide the training that works for each horse on an individual basis. She is consistent and clear in what she asks of the horse which helps them stay relaxed and soft during the training process. She is a confident horseperson and is able to find that balance between providing the horse with boundaries without being harsh.
Meredith is honest, hard-working and very intelligent. She is extremely dedicated to her equine business and manages it in a way that anyone would be proud of. She has several boarders that have been with her for many years and she takes care of these horses just like her own.
I have used several different trainers in the past and, while I was satisfied with their work, I wasn’t necessarily thrilled with it. I am thrilled with the education my horses and I have received from Meredith and am happy to refer folks to her because I know they’ll be thrilled too.
Last November I purchased a beautiful paint mare Myia. I had never owned a horse like her before. I brought her home after I purchased her and she gave me problems. I ended up being so scared of her that I would not even walk into her pen without my husband. I didn’t know what to do however I did know that I had a deep love for Myia! So I started asking people what I should do? That’s when someone referred me to Meredith. So I made an appointment for Myia to have a 7 day assessment. During the 7 days that Myia and I spent with Meredith I learned a lot!!! She taught me everything I needed to know to be successful with Myia all on my own! Since training with Meredith I have moved from not being able to go in a pen with my horse to showing her at the 2009 National Western Stock Show! We took 3rd place in Western Pleasure & 9th over all. If I had not trained with Meredith my dreams would not be coming true today!!! Meredith is one of the best trainers I have ever worked with! I would refer anyone! I plan to have her work with my babies in the near future.
